CAMBRIDGE TECHNICALS INTRODUCTORY DIPLOMA/DIPLOMA IN IT

Overview

This vocational qualification is designed with the workplace in mind and will provide you with the knowledge and skills required for entry into employment and the community as a whole.  The course has been designed to be up to date, engaging, fit for purpose and suitable for the needs of students in 2018.

You will apply your skills and knowledge practically in preparation for further study, apprenticeship or employment.  You will be able to apply for pathways that require communication, problem solving, time management, research and analytical skills.

 

Areas of Study & Assessment

In Year 12 you will study Unit 1 (Fundamentals of IT) where you will develop an understanding in computer hardware, computer software, IT employability skills and, threats to IT systems. You will also study Unit 2 (Global Information) in Year 12 with a focus on how information is held globally, information styles, legal framework of storing information globally and the principles of information security.

 

Cambridge Technicals Introductory Diploma:

In Year 13 there will be a focus on the role of an IT technical practitioner where you will design a network to meet the requirements of the client and support clients when they have techncial IT issues. You will create a product for a client which follows the system life cycle.  In total there are five units that you will study over the two years, examinations are at the end of Year 12.

 

Cambridge Technicals Diploma:

In Year 12 you will also complete units with a focus on mobile technology, the Internet of Everything and developing a smarter planet.

 

In Year 13  There will be a focus on the role of an IT technical practitioner where you will need to select hardware and software to meet a client’s needs.  In total there are eleven units that you will study over the two years, examinations are at the end of Year 12 and in January of Year 13.

This course, is very hands on as we have both practical and technical work. The teachers are very supportive and promote learning in a fun way. As students, have developed our technical understanding in IT. During the two years we have learnt the different aspects of IT and the effects it has on modern day life. Overall, we enjoy the lessons as they are fun, productive and full of energy.

 

I love my IT lessons, they are a a fun and interactive way for me to learn about the way the world is developing with technology and all of its implications, by doing IT I feel more aware of these developments.
