Pupil and School Support (PSS)

Nicola Stimson is from Pupil and School Support.  This service works with schools to help pupils with cognition and learning difficulties progress and achieve to the best of their ability. Following an assessment of pupil needs, they support schools through training and modelling to build both their capacity and their ability to provide access to the curriculum and appropriate support for pupils with special educational needs (SEN). PSS works with schools to support their development of SEN policies and procedures and to assist them in the identification of successful provision to match the needs of all their pupils. They advise and suggest actions to support schools to deliver quality SEN provision.

Educational Psychology (EP) Service

The school Educational Psychologist is Samantha Grimes she provides professional psychological services for the young people at our school.  Educational Psychologists use their expertise of psychological theory and research to develop an understanding of situations, addressing a wide range of child and adolescent developmental issues, including special educational needs.  Her work will often involve observation and direct assessment with individual students and consultation with school staff.

We know that the best outcomes are achieved through positive collaboration between families, settings and support services.  Educational Psychologists ensure therefore to work collaboratively with parents.  An Educational Psychologist will only work with a child once parental permission has been granted and the young person has given informed consent.
