EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Lordswood Girls’ School & Sixth Form Centre offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities, from sport and the arts, through to student leadership opportunities and community involvement.

Subject areas provide enrichment activities as well as study support clubs and, since 2016-17, the school has been running the Duke of Edinburgh Award. In addition, on a Wednesday, the school day ends at 2:20pm to allow students to participate in extended learning activities. This may involve students taking part in enrichment or extension activities in school or enable students to deepen their learning through wider reading at home. Students may use this time to develop their skills in a particular sport or on a musical instrument or to take up a new hobby.

In 2017-18, we are introducing The Lordswood Challenge for all students in Years 7 and 8. This scheme is designed to broaden students’ learning experiences as they tackle the different challenges across six areas. Throughout the year, there will also be a range of activities run by staff from 2:20 – 3pm and all students in Years 7 and 8 are expected to take part in at least one of these sessions. The scheme aims to provide a good foundation for progression to the Duke of Edinburgh award and also links with the Lordswood Experience which outlines the opportunities and learning which we want all students to experience during their time at Lordswood Girls’ School.
